EMBODYING RESISTANCE - Workshop with the artist Aldo Giannotti
Event Information
Aldo Giannotti's artistic practice is anchored in drawing, serving as a dynamic tool to communicate and confront socio-cultural and socio-political issues of our time. These drawings often serve as the foundation for performative interventions characterized by humor and subversion.
In this workshop, Aldo invites you to explore the streets of Florence, where the urban sphere becomes a canvas for collective expression and resistance. Together, we will uncover performative micro actions that serve as a unique form of protest against the prevailing norms.
Together we will explore a diverse set of tools and methods to effectively communicate your perspectives on critical subjects.
As a group, you will find strength in supporting each other's interventions, harnessing the potential of seemingly small yet profoundly meaningful actions in alignment with your beliefs and causes.
In an era marked by pressing challenges such as climate crisis, social inequality, and the pervasive influence of neo-liberal and capitalist market systems, it's common to feel overwhelmed in the fight for justice. However, this workshop reminds us that even within our immediate surroundings, we have the power to make a difference. By taking a stand and raising awareness about the injustices we witness, we can initiate change from the grassroots level.

Artist
Aldo Giannotti, born in Italy, has been living and working in Vienna since 2000. Giannotti’s main interest lies in the interrelationship between physical and symbolic space. At its core lies the idea, that there is an intimate connection between the way a space is arranged and the tendency to behave in a particular way within it. His work has been presented in various contexts and institutions in Austria and internationally.
